Premier League Season Preview

Hi

The 2019/20 Premier League season kicks off tonight at Anfield as Liverpool host newly promoted Norwich. Here's a rundown of some key odds before it all gets under way.

CITY THREE-PEAT

After a tremendous battle with Liverpool last season, Man City ran out champions for the second year in a row, winning the league by a single point. This time around they're once again favourites to top the pile, and their implied probability according to Smarkets odds has risen in recent weeks to 65%, with Liverpool at 23% to turn the tables.

In the race for the top four, Tottenham have a 65% chance of making the Champions League spots ahead of the closely matched trio of Manchester United (42%), Chelsea (40%), and Arsenal (39%). Some believe that this could be the year the top six are broken up, and Everton (22%), Leicester (21%), and Wolves (16%) all appear to have strong claims.

Meanwhile, at the bottom, Sheffield United are the only side odds-on (56%) for the drop, with Norwich (48%) and Brighton (35%) the most likely to potentially join the Blades in the bottom three.

KING KANE

Three players - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah - finished top of the scoring charts on 22 goals last season, but none of them is favourite for top marksman this season, with Spurs' Harry Kane leading the early market on 19%.

GAMEWEEK ONE

Looking at this weekend's matches, Liverpool are the biggest favourites (85%), while Manchester United (44%) and Chelsea (27%) face off in the headline contest of gameweek one on Sunday afternoon.
